Schools one and two of our tour are in the books.  It was an intense four days of training, as Graham taught the slow speed techniques that he uses to keep the bike moving in the nastiest terrain.

The schools began with tight turns in an open area, where most of the students shined.  But as expected, they struggled a bit once we took those same techniques into the rocks and trees.  That’s where line selection, throttle and clutch control, body position, and looking ahead are so crucial.  As the days went on, the students showed a great deal of improvement in these areas and tackled some very difficult sections of the TKO course.

The most difficult line we used was the trail to the big waterfall.  A few of the advanced students made it all the way up to the falls, which Graham rated as a solid 8/10 on the Red Bull Hard Enduro scale of difficulty.  It wasn’t necessarily pretty, but they made it through the section.  And at the end of the day, that’s what matters the most in technical trail riding or hard endure racing.

So now that they’ve done it, they can work on cleaning things up, and riding more efficiently through that type of terrain.  More efficiency translates to less energy spent, less wear on the bike, lower lap times, and MORE FUN.

We’d like to give a special shout out to a few students in the advanced class that made it up to the waterfall.  Tyler Trimmer, Devin Ferguson, Robert Quesenberry, Adam McCluskey, Collin Wright, and Dillon Ramey pushed themselves hard to conquer this very gnarly section!
